We have started a new venture on the farm
Honey Bees
Last year the wife and I decided we wanted to start something new. We met a local Master Beekeeper that was more than happy to share his knowledge of the art of successful beekeeping.
We place the bee hives around the farm, and have several local farmers that were more than excited to have us put our hives in their fields for pollination.
When we collect our honey we extract it from the hive comb straight to the jar! We do this in such a way that the extracted honey comb can go right back into the hives where the bees will clean up the comb and start to refill it with honey. This is best for the bees because other methods require the bees to start completely over rebuilding new comb from scratch.

.Raw honey is 100% real, natural honey. When at the grocery store, make sure you’re getting raw and unfiltered honey that’s 100% pure. That means it was gathered by beekeepers. Beekeepers make sure to preserve the natural qualities of honey when extracting and bottling raw honey. These responsible beekeepers also make sure to take care of their bees along the way for natural, sustainable honey.
What Is Raw Organic Honey?
There are numerous benefits of natural honey like vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants and enzymes. Because of these wonderful perks of raw honey, it works as the perfect processed sugar replacement. Processed sugar has zero benefits and comes with a crash. Raw honey doesn’t. But vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants are only preserved in raw honey.
If properly preserved, raw honey doesn’t expire. In fact, raw honey can remain stable for centuries if kept in closed containers.
Raw and unfiltered honey contains pollen, which is a good thing!
Pasteurization is the process of heating honey at high temperatures to make it easier for bottling. But this process also kills the nutrients naturally found in honey like vitamins and enzymes. Raw honey is never, ever pasteurized.
Although honey raises your blood sugar level just like other types of sugar do, the antioxidants it contains may help protect against metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
Raw honey typically contains propolis, a type of resin that bees produce from sap-producing trees and similar plants. Propolis may improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
A review of 26 studies on honey and wound care found it most effective at healing partial-thickness burns and wounds that have become infected after surgery.
